This Tax Day, Use Your Money Wisely: Call Congress!
Tax Day this year is Monday, April 17.
On this Tax Day, we ask you to think about this: just four days of
Iraq war spending equals the Bush administration's entire renewable
energy and energy efficiency annual budget! Meaning that just another
four days of war spending could double that budget.
This Tax Day, we ask you to Call Congress and urge the new Congress
to shift funding away from nuclear power and fossil fuels and toward
the renewable and efficient energy sources that offer real solutions
to the climate crisis.
And, this Tax Day, we also ask if you can help us spread the word
about this message and support the Call-Congress days we are
promoting all year long (the first was on Valentine's Day). It's easy
to donate, just go to:

Think about this: the Bush administration is proposing to spend
almost double ($2.3 billion to $1.2 billion) of your money on nuclear
power and fossil fuels compared to renewables and efficiency.
Nuclear power and fossil fuels are 20th century technologies. They
brought us environmental disasters like Chernobyl, the Exxon Valdez,
acid rain, and now the prospect of unchecked global warming. We need
21st century energy solutions, not more of the same.
But if Congress is to make the needed switch in energy priorities,
they need to hear from you!
And it's important that they hear directly from younot just as part
of a mass e-mail campaign. Your voice on their phone is the most
effective tactic you as a constituent can do.
So please call your Congressmembers with a simple message: tell them
you want your taxes spent on energy efficiency and renewable energy,
not on nuclear power and fossil fuels. The main U.S. Capitol
Switchboard numbers are 202-224-3121 or 202-225-3121. You can reach
every member of Congress from those numbers. There are also toll-free
numbers you may use. These are: 1-800-828-0498, 1-800-459-1887,
1-800-614-2803, 1-866-340-9281, 1-866-220-0044.
And please help us spread the word: send this message to your friends
and mailing lists; put on your myspace and similar pages; put on your
websites. And help us continue our outreach and plan more
Congressional call-in days by donating on our secure online server:

This Tax Day, help change the government's energy budget priorities.
Make sure your elected officials know how you want your tax money spent!
Thank you for all of your help and support! Together, we can build a
sustainable energy future!
