  Panel presentation
  on the
production and use of depleted uranium weapons

  Friday, Oct. 19th, at 7:00 p.m.
  Fellowship Hall, Unitarian Universalist Church

There is a growing worldwide concern about the health effects and long-term genetic consequences regarding the use of depleted uranium weapons in warfare. DU is a toxic heavy metal with a radioactive half-life of 4.5 billion years. DU weapons have now been used extensively in several wars and conflicts including the current wars in Afghanistan and Iraq . Members of the Stop DU Campaign will highlight their constructive efforts to help end the production of these weapons of indiscriminate mass destruction. The hour long presentation will be followed by Q and A.

  Panel of speakers:
Cliff Kindy has made three, five-month long trips to Iraq over the last five years. He became involved with the Stop DU Campaign because of concern about the effects of these weapons on Iraqi and Afghani civilians and US military personnel.
Mabel Brunk is a retired nurse who has also been to Iraq with CPT.
Wes Rehberg is a retired pastor and former investigative journalist. He is currently working on a documentary on DU.
Ethel Umble has been active in the Stop DU Campaign, participating in a health survey of all homes within a half mile radius of the Aerojet ordnance plant in Jonesborough , TN.
Juanita Shenk has made personal visits to Hiroshima and to the contaminated Starmet DU production site in Concord , MA .
